A Solo 50th Birthday Trip I Almost Didn't Take

Turning 50 less than a year after finalizing a difficult divorce is a weird place to be. I had originally planned a massive party, but the thought of celebrating with half our old friends sounded exhausting.

I decided I wanted to go to Spain. Just me. But clicking 'buy' on a plane ticket felt impossible. I hadn't traveled alone in two decades.

I ended up talking to Rachel at CEOFLIGHTS. I was probably a bit too emotional on the phone, explaining why I wanted to go. Rachel was so kind. She told me she was going to find me something special.

The food on Iberia was incredible. I had some beautifully prepared cod and a fantastic Spanish red wine. I put my seat back, watched a movie, and fell asleep feeling lighter than I had in years.

Landing in Madrid, walking out into the bright morning sun, I felt completely empowered. Rachel didn't just book me a flight; she helped me start my next chapter.
