A Grandfather's Promise: Taking the Grandkids to Japan

I made a promise to my grandkids when they were little that I'd take them to see Japan. Now they are twelve and fourteen, and time was running out before high school schedules took over their lives.

My wife and I wanted to take them during cherry blossom season, but when I priced out four business class tickets from Boston to Osaka, the number made me dizzy. I thought I was going to have to break my promise.

A guy in my golf league mentioned CEOFLIGHTS, so I called and spoke to David. I told him what I was trying to do, and that I was on a fixed retirement budget, even for a splurge.

David was fantastic. He dug around and found a routing on Japan Airlines that got all four of us in business class for $7,800 less than standard pricing. It saved the trip.

The service on JAL is something else entirely. The flight attendants were so polite and patient with the kids, explaining all the different Japanese dishes on the menu.

I had this beautiful bento box presentation that looked like a work of art. The kids loved trying all the weird snacks and watching anime on the massive screens.

The only real issue was that the kids were too excited to sleep. Despite the incredibly comfortable lie-flat beds, they stayed up watching movies for almost the entire flight. They were absolute zombies on our first day in Osaka.

But seeing their faces when we finally walked through the cherry blossoms the next morning made every cent worth it. David helped me keep my promise, and I'll be forever grateful.
