How a Canceled Flight Turned Into the Best Upgrade of My Life

I was packed and ready for a crucial week of meetings in Switzerland when the dreaded text message arrived.

My United Polaris flight out of O'Hare was canceled due to a crew shortage.

The airline's automated system wanted to rebook me two days later, which was completely unacceptable. I had to be in Zurich the next morning, no exceptions.
